Welcome. I love to make stuff: Papercraft, crochet, plushies, cooking and baking.

I'll be posting my own stuff where I can and promoting other fabulous artisan crafts by fantastically talented craftspeople in between :)

And whilst I’m quite indifferent about the monarchy in the U.K., as a lover of all things history, I can appreciate what this day will mean to British history and future generations of Britons. I’ve got to say, the 1000 boat flotilla was quite impressive. It’s a shame it was raining, but the U.K. does nothing better than unpredictable weather, right?

I kinda feel sorry for the Queen, though. She looked bored out of her skull & she had not sat down for about 4 hours. She’s 86! She should be at home with a cup of tea, some chocolate digestives and a corgi on her lap.

My home town, (British Overseas Territory) Gibraltar, is also celebrating its Britishness & loyalty to Queen Elizabeth II this long weekend, especially since territorial disputes with Spain have resurfaced once again (yeah, it never gets old - only been going on for 300 years!). Gibraltar will be receiving the Queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward (who I was lucky enough to meet 11 years ago{second article}) and his wife Sophie Countess of Wessex, representing the Queen. I have never seen Gibraltar looking so patriotic, in photos that is, as I’m loving Gibraltar from a distance. I sometimes think the people of Gibraltar are more patriotic than many in the U.K. Some smaller events were held today, but I believe the big celebrations will be taking place tomorrow with Edward and Sophie as their distinguished guests. I think it’ll be like another National Day, with the added blue to bunting, flags and clothing. There will also be a flotilla, a tenth of the size of the one which sailed down the Thames today, encircling the rock in its surrounding waters.

Anyway, since this is a craft blog, I thought I’d add some jubilee-related cakes and things.

I had a very British dessert last night, after an epic barbecue, a beautiful Eton Mess, which my mother-in-law had, not knowingly, made up of red berries and blueberries to add to the cream and meringues. It kind of looked like a messy (because it’s Eton Mess - duh!) version of this:

Whether you’ve been celebrating, been indifferent (like myself and family) or even blissfully ignorant about the whole thing, I hope you’ve all had a lovely day.

The lovely lady behind PetiteSweetsLife is a baker from Syracuse, New York. She earned her baking degree from Alfred State College and while at school, discovered her passion for cake decorating. She worked as a cake decorator at a little Italian bakery for 2 and a half years and now works at Turning Stone Casino and Resort as a baker. She is working towards owning her own bakery which would specialise in cupcakes, petit fours, and wedding cakes. Her blog is a collection of her work from past to present (mostly cupcakes) and home to her video blogs on “how-to” baking. She’s always open to suggestions and loves answering questions her followers have about baking and decorating.

Her motto is: “Making the world sweeter, one cupcake at a time”

Follow & obviously go taste her baked goodies if you’re ever in the area of Verona, New York (state not city)!
