Welcome. I love to make stuff: Papercraft, crochet, plushies, cooking and baking.

I'll be posting my own stuff where I can and promoting other fabulous artisan crafts by fantastically talented craftspeople in between :)

~Chinese dragon~

Having made a western type dragon for chinese new year, I want to make an chinese dragon as well but didn’t have the time nor the inspiration to create my own pattern at the time.

Now that my chinese zodiac collection is coming to a close and I still have no inspiration to make the snake, I thought it would be a good time to try making a chinese dragon.

I think this is my most creative of my patterns and I spent a long time thinking of his pattern but I think he is worth it in the end! ^^

His body of changing from green and then back to cream took me a long time and took me four attempts to make it because the cream part started to go diagonal…(Im not sure I explained myself very well but it didn’t go well at all)

I think his claws and the little pearl he is holding in his claws are a nice finishing touch and I really love him!

Chinese paper-cutting is an intricate art with a lot of tradition behind it.  Here is a paper-cutting of a dragon preparation for the upcoming Year of the Dragon as according to the Chinese zodiac.
Do you know how to say “dragon” in Chinese?  It’s 龙 (Lóng).

I had planned to post a number of Chinese crafts throughout the day as it’s the Chinese New Year of the dragon. Our home internet has been down all day once again, so after this post I shall be spamming you with some wonderful Chinese crafts. Just a little later than promised.

Better late than never, though. Right? :)
